THE REPORT OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, AT THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF CHRIST’s HIGH SCHOOL, IBADAN, AT OLEYO ON THE 19th of NOVEMBER , 2023.

PROTOCOLS
Our very diligent President,
Honorable members of the ExCo, Respectable Members of our Alumni Association home and abroad.

PREAMBLE
The B.O.T met twice in the course of the year, and the first was between May and June 2023, after observing the remarkable strides made by our new Executive Council in their first 7 months.
In order to fulfil our constitutional role according to section V(b) vi, which states that the Board of Trustees, “shall act as advisers to the Association”, The board undertook a
thorough and painstaking evaluation of our ExCo’s performance, and saw the need to render advices that will further enhance the proactive steps taken by the ExCo, smoothen rough edges in their operations and open new vistas of physical developments of our Alma mater.
We then pointed out that cooperation between the Association and the School Authorities, should be further cemented, now that the new Principal is also an alumnus.

AN OVERVIEW OF OUR ADVICES.
Consequently, we came up with advices that are summarized below, from our extensive deliberations, which was communicated to the ExCo, through the President.
The receipt of our communication was also acknowledged, by the President.

After the appraisals,
*We pointed out the need to engage more professionals, in order to improve the technical quality of jobs done.
* We recommended that video coverage of projects undertaken, be shared well ahead of the hours of the AGM, to enable Diaspora members have full appreciation of the projects. It will also save time on the period allocated to inspection, during the AGM.
* We advised that Financial and Auditors reports be made more comprehensive and published well ahead of the AGMs., at least 10 days. So members can have ample time to critically examine the reports.
* For growth, we suggested the need to embark on expansion of membership and the need to improve the extent to which, our website is put into use.

* We also advised the inclusion of :-
THE MINUTES OF LAST MEETING,
and,
MATTERS ARISING,
in the agenda that’s posted on the WhatsApp platform,, prior to the AGM.

DID ExCo TRY IN HEEDING OUR ADVICES?
Yes of course.
It gladdens our hearts to see that in response to our advices, the ExCo did well.
A few examples are itemized below :-

Areas of defects in the technical quality of the perimeter fence, have been attended to.
The rear fence, has been completed
Coppicing have been completed for two sides – the front and the left sides.
The Secretary and the President have been putting some information on the website, more than we were having previously.
Beautification made around the offices, are doing fine
In line with expected cooperation with alumnus-Principal, old completed projects hitherto moribund, are now being monitored through the Principal and made functional.
So, students are now using the computers since they were repaired this year.
As regards membership drive, we’ve grown from over 100 members to over 200. Most of the new additions are from the younger generations as we desired.
All these put together are, a welcome development.

WHAT ABOUT SUPPORT FROM THE MEMBERSHIP?
The leaps and bounds that have taken the Association thus far, wouldn’t have been, but for the unalloyed support that our respectable members gave the ExCo.
We thank all those who have been up to date in the payment of their dues, as well as those who have been making exceptional donations towards the projects and our various schorlarship programmes of the Association.

Worthy of mention, is the example of our Diaspora Chapter. They have been funding the on-going regrassing of the football Field.
Another example, is the changing of the chalk boards of 18 classrooms into tiles, by our ’84 set.

We cannot fail to mention those whose non financial, physical and professional contributions too, have been immeasurable.

It gives us great pleasure to know that all of us without exception , have kept the flag of the alumni flying higher and higher, striving to reach for the stars.
Our forefathers will say, Yi
nni, Yinni, ka tun se imii si ni o.
The reward of good work , ( as they now say ), is more work.

OUR SECOND MEETING.
Our second meeting was held in October/ November 2023, to prepare our report for the AGM. This was because, there were no exigent developments that may necessitate holding any meetings before then.

OUR PRAYER TO THE HOUSE.
The board prays the general membership to accept the above, as a true account of its activities during the year 2023.

PRAYERS TO GOD
It is also our prayers to God Almighty, that He will reward us all in several folds.
As we turn the corner of another year in the month ahead, God’s protection over us shall not fail, and His blessings for us to do greater things for the school , for ourselves and the nation, shall come in multiples in Jesus name.

We pray too, that God Almighty will continue to guide and bless the school authorities, the school itself and the students, in Jesus name. Amen.
